DJ Coolma continues his exploration of House/Deep House dance music genres with the second single “Dancing with Fear (Radio Edit).” This is an electronic track that has strong melodies and blends modern deep house production with the perfect amount of retro feel.

“Nice track! Has a very classic early 90s kind of vibe.”
The track starts with a distorted guitar sounding arpeggiated synth lead, chorus-like vocal samples, a funky bassline, and deep house beats. The synth lead plays the main melody until replaced by a soothing female vocal sample that is sound-designed and transformed to sound like a shouting voice or saxophone growl, hitting on the same note relentlessly in the final drop to raise the track’s energy level to its highest peak before braking and cooling down into the outro section. At last, the sustained strings sound used in the intro comes back in the outro to complete its full circle of the sound journey of the track.
DJ Coolma remarks that making of the new single was slow and difficult at first but it was exciting, inspirational, and rewarding in the end. He explains why: “During the course of song production, when I had the arpeggiated synth lead as the only main melody in the arrangement, the working title was ‘Fireworks in the Distance’—the main melody played by the arpeggiated synth lead inspired me an image of fireworks in the distance where you can see only a part of its expanding rings and your view is blocked by the mountain or the building top. You might hear the echo of the initial burst but you cannot see their full circles of light. After completing the final drop, the title became ‘Dancing with Fear’ eventually since another revealing ideas and images came into my mind and my perspective on this track changed. It seemed that this whole sound journey of the track—the main melody’s change from the lead synth to bold shout sounding vocal sample—resembled a transformation of mind state from unsure to confident. When you start a track, you are unsure and overwhelmed by too many choices but by the time the track is fully developed, you’ve made all the decisions needed to be made and feels more confident. It ends on a high note; a soulful humanlike shouting sound sings triumphantly. The image of blocked view is gone now. You can see the whole image of fireworks with their expanding glorious circles of light. You are not intimidated by fear anymore but rather dancing with it.”
